10 Wellness Trends That Are Here To Stay

By Kait Vadenais

While many trends last only as long as it takes for the next social post to go viral, some trends stick around for a while. The year 2020 propelled many trends forward but we have a hunch that these 10 are here to stay, into 2021 and beyond!

1) Meditation

More people are prioritizing not only their physical health but their mental health as well. Practicing meditation is just one of the ways people can be more in tune with their bodies and their feelings. With apps like Calm and Headspace, meditation is more accessible than ever, and it is becoming more common for people to practice mindfulness regularly.

2) Plant-Forward Diets

Plant-forward diets continue to grow in popularity and with that comes more options and products. Restaurants catering specifically to vegetarians and vegans are popping up all over, and meat substitutes can even be found at fast-food chains, like the Impossible Burger at Burger King. This change in diet correlates with our increasingly eco-conscious society and we continue to understand not only the environmental benefit of eating more plant-based but the health benefits as well. If you’re looking for an all-in-one meal replacement solution to fit your plant-forward diet, RSP Nutrition’s TrueFit Plant is the perfect option. It contains 20g of plant based protein, 12 organic fruits and vegetables, 8g of prebiotic fiber and probiotics.

3) Matcha

Matcha skyrocketed in popularity as a better alternative to your daily coffee. While it may contain less caffeine than coffee, matcha’s green tea powder is filled with antioxidants and provides a more level pick-me-up thanks to l-theanine. Outside of your local coffee shop, you can also find matcha in everything from ice cream to smoothies. RSP’s Vanilla Chai Matcha Bomb is rich in antioxidants and acts as a detoxifier, metabolism booster, and overall health promoter.

4) Wearables

The ability to monitor your fitness and have your health data at your fingertips is more appealing than ever. From the Apple Watch to Whoop, new wearable fitness trackers are helping track everything from heart rate, calorie burn, and sleep patterns. This new technology is helping people stay motivated at all fitness levels and learn more about their body’s unique needs.

5) Recovery devices

Recovery has become a top priority in wellness this year - just as important as training days. Over the past year, we’ve seen recovery tools like NormaTec and Theragun gain wild popularity, and the trusty foam roller is getting some much deserved attention as well. These recovery devices can help alleviate muscle soreness, tension, and allow for a speedy recovery. For instance, NormaTec uses air pressure massage technology that mimics your body’s natural recovery process and allows you to adjust the pressure level and rest time between massages. So, you can recover anywhere, anytime with no limitations! Another popular recovery option you may have heard of are foam rollers. Foam rollers have been proven to improve blood circulation, increase flexibility, and reduce soreness, allowing for a quick recovery and enhanced muscle performance. Investing in post-workout recovery is extremely important because your muscles need to adequately heal in between training sessions. If they don’t recover properly, it can lead to decreased performance and muscle stiffness.

6) Hot + Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapy has become increasingly popular in the fitness realm. Ever see your favorite fitness influencer in a tub of ice? Yup, that! And it’s amazing.

Cold therapy has been known to speed up metabolism, improve focus, immunity, and quality of sleep. Cryotherapy can also help alleviate pain by slowing down blood circulation which can then reduce redness, swelling, spasms and pain. As you warm up, fresh oxygenated blood flows into your extremities to speed your recovery process.

Heat therapy is completely opposite, but still as effective. It increases blood flow which circulates all the nutrients needed to promote recovery. A mix of both hot and cold therapy is highly recommended so you can get all the benefits from each and achieve prime recovery.

7) At-Home Workouts

Working out at home is easier and more exciting than ever thanks to new high-tech advances. Companies like Tonal and Peloton (plus many more!) revamp the living room workout experience, proving that streaming workouts can be interactive and fun. Not only are these on-demand workout programs available at all price levels, but many have interactive live class options as well.

8) Gratitude Journaling

For many years, journaling has been known to improve your state of mind and well-being, but gratitude journaling has taken that to a whole new level. Reflecting on what you’re grateful for gives less power to negative thoughts and allows room for optimism and positivity. Gratitude journaling can also help your overall mood and sleep. By jotting down what you are most thankful for each day, you are reflecting on positive experiences and acknowledging the goodness in your life and are able to have a clear head before bed. Research has also shown that focusing on feelings of contentment and gratitude naturally reduce stress. So, something as simple as noting what you are grateful for each day is known to increase positivity, improve sleep and self-esteem, reduce stress, and make you happier!  In fact, if you'd like to share your reflections with others, and maybe even become part of a community, be sure to check out this link : https://outwittrade.com/why-is-gratitude-important

9) Gut Health

Now that we know the effect that our gut bacteria has on our body, we are much more interested in wellness from the inside out. While this relates to an overall awareness of what we are putting into our bodies, it has also created a growing interest in probiotics. Both pre and probiotic supplements are meant to help stabilize digestion through good bacteria. RSP’s grass fed whey TrueFit protein powder contains 8g of prebiotic fiber and 1 billion CFU probiotics to help promote gut health and digestion. Have you tried it yet?

10) Collagen

Collagen supplements have become so prevalent and continue to increase in popularity amongst the wellness space. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein produced in the body that serves many functions, such as supporting skin elasticity, bone and joint strength, etc. Taking a collagen supplement has been known to be a natural beauty booster that improves hair, skin and nail vitality, reducing wrinkles and increasing blood flow to the skin. It can also improve gut health and provide support for your bones and joints. RSP Nutrition’s AvoCollagen contains hydrolyzed collagen peptides and avocado oil for healthy fats, which helps naturally increase collagen production, acts a powerful antioxidant, and provides support for your bones, joints, tendons, cartilage, and ligaments.
